Experience
Although I have not acted us a professional tutor, I am a mom and have been "tutoring" my four kids in math, science, english, and social studies for years. My youngest is currently in 8th grade and my eldest just graduated high school. I home-schooled two of my children through middle school giving me the opportunity to truly see how each child differs in their learning styles. I have also worked with students with challenges such as ADD, Aspergers and OCD. I want to be a tutor because I think it is an excellent opportunity to keep my knowledge fresh as well as a chance to help a student overcome that hurdle. Seeing the "aha" moment of a child when that source of frustration finally clicks in their mind is priceless. My feeling is that this is best achieved through consistent encouragement and patience.
